NEW! A new spa chalet to rent in La Tzoumaz Chalet Calittum and its 5 en-suite bedrooms has been kept a closely-guarded secret until now – only available for use by close family and friends. Now, for the first time, it has been released for holiday rental on a whole-chalet basis and dates are available for stays in Winter 19/20!
This gorgeous chalet has 320m2 of living space spread across three floors and truly has everything that you will need to make the most of your stay: double-height windows and stunning feature fireplace in the living room, fully equipped separate kitchen, TV room, a hot steamy hammam and an outdoor hot-tub jacuzzi. In the summer there is a heated swimming pool with stunning views across the valley. On a blue-sky day, the view stretches 20km, up to the peaks of the Haut de Cry and the Mont Gond, and in the other direction towards the legendary Vallon d’Arby and its un-pisted ski itinerary.
Bedrooms & Bathrooms
This spacious chalet sleeps up to 12 people in 4 en-suite bedrooms and an en-suite family suite with 4 beds.
On the lower ground floor there are three twin bedrooms, each of which has an en-suite bathroom fitted with shower, sink and WC. This floor has access to the TV room and the spa area consisting of indoor steam hammam with rain shower and separate WC, and outdoor hot-tub jacuzzi.
On the main living floor you will find a master bedroom with floor-to-ceiling glazed patio doors that access a coffee terrace with table and chairs and incredible views up the Vallon d’Arby. The en-suite bathroom is fitted with his’n’hers rain shower, WC and double sink. There is also a vestibule entrance area, access to the pool terrace and a separate guest WC on this floor.
Upstairs you will find the spacious family suite, spread over an area of 50m2 which is open to the roof beams. At one end is the fully-enclosed double bedroom with its en-suite family bathroom fitted with bath, separate shower, sink and WC. At the other end (and open to the stairs) is a sitting area with bookshelves, a table and chairs, and twin beds perfect for children or overnight guests. The TV in the family suite is equipped with Swisscom and Netflix. There is plenty of light on this level, with daylight flooding in from the windows on all sides and extra velux windows in the roof that maximise the views.
La Tzoumaz Chalet Calittum is equipped with a high chair and a cot suitable for children under 2 years old.
On the main floor of this very large chalet is an open living/dining area with feature fireplace and underfloor heating. The separate kitchen is spacious and fully equipped with everything you might need for family and group catering, including two double ovens, two heated drawers, microwave, island with induction hob and teppanyaki plaque, American fridge with ice maker, a separate fridge, walk-in larder, dishwasher, microwave, electric filter coffee machine and a Nespresso coffee machine. There is a small breakfast table and chairs in the kitchen. The large dining table in the living/dining area seats 12 and there are fondue and raclette sets for a traditional Swiss evening in front of the log fire. Hairdryers and iron are available for you to use, and the separate laundry room has both a washing machine and a dryer. There is plenty of specially-designed storage space for all of your ski wear and boots, helping you to keep all your snow-sports clothing and equipment dry and organised. For summer use there is patio and poolside furniture with parasol, a cabane with shaded seating and a large gas barbecue.
Built in a quiet and sunny residential area, and named after the medieval latin word for chalet or shelter, this whole chalet is designed to provide a haven from the hectic bustle of everyday life. The feeling of space and calm is enhanced by the thoughtful decor and the incredible views on all sides that stretch across the valley to the often snow-capped mountains beyond. In winter you can relax into the comfortable sofas under the vaulted 5-metre-high ceiling and listen to the fireplace crackling as the moonlight washes magically over the snowy mountainscape outside. The spa facilities make this chalet a truly exceptional choice that you won’t regret, as you soak up the steam in the mosaic-tiled hammam or admire the twinkling lights far, far away as you relax into the massaging water jets of the outdoor hot-tub jacuzzi.
There is plenty of entertainment to stimulate the mind, from books and games for children to a separate TV room with DVD library, Netflix and Swisscom package.
From May to the end of September you can splash, swim or wade in the heated outdoor private pool on the main terrace. There is ample room and poolside furniture for soaking up the sun in what is one of the sunniest locations in the entire village, and table & chairs for a leisurely lunchtime barbecue.
The 100m2 of terraced area around the chalet provides plenty of opportunities to build snowmen and other sculptures in winter.
Chalet Calittum is equipped with high-speed WIFI for your own private use during your stay.
We would be delighted to welcome your pets to Chalet Calittum. Please note that dogs must not be left alone in the chalet for long periods of time. They must spend any alone time (and sleep over night) in the Dog Zone on the main living floor to respect the chalet for future guests. Please note that the garden is not enclosed and you will be responsible for clearing up your pet’s waste before leaving. If you are travelling with more than one large or two small dogs, please contact us to ensure we will be able to accommodate them.
There is parking for 3 cars in front of the chalet garage and one car inside. A 4×4 vehicle with winter tyres and/or snow chains is necessary to descend to these parking spaces on the garage level in winter due to steep and snowy access road. Alternative parking is available 400m away, in a lay-by on the main road. Contact us for railway or airport transfers.
The free ski bus (less than 400m from the door) whisks you the 2km to the Savoleyres telecabin in a matter of minutes. The modern high-speed telecabin carries you from La Tzoumaz up to the top of the Savoleyres in less than 8 minutes, from where you can decide to ski back on the quiet La Tzoumaz slopes or ski down to Verbier’s legendary slopes and world-class off-piste opportunities in the vast 4-Valleys ski area.
In the peak summer season (from early July to late August), we provide you with free VIP pedestrian lift-passes, half-price mountain-bike daypasses and a range of other discounts. The telecabin link to Verbier operates daily at this time of year from 08:45 to 12:30 and from 13:30 to 16:45, meaning that you can easily access the famous resort as a pedestrian, or accompanied by your bicycle. You can even use a variety of mountain lifts to make your way up to Mont Fort at 3300m for Europe’s highest fondue and incredible mountain panoramas that include Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn.
In summer, the area turns into a hiking and mountain biking paradise, with hundreds of kilometres of marked trails criss-crossing the mountains, awash with alpine flowers and a range of wildlife to spot. Visit the Maison de la Foret with its wildlife exhibitions and its Five Senses Nature Trail, and the starting point of many beautiful hikes. The “Bisses” are relatively flat footpaths that follow the water as it trickles around the mountainsides, where for centuries farmers and villagers channelled the streams for their own uses. They have been preserved now and can be an incredible way to spend a day or more on easy hikes with stunning views across the Rhone Valley or over to the Massif des Combins. We’ll provide you with plenty of tourist information including our favourite suggestions for day trips that are easily reachable from La Tzoumaz, from spectacular gorge walks, cheese factories and roman festivals to rainy-day ideas such as underground lake tours. The road that winds up the mountain-top to the panoramic Croix-de-Coeur Cafe-Restaurant opens as soon as the snow melts and from here you can continue the drive (or cycle) all the way down into Verbier. Don’t miss the Swiss National Celebrations in La Tzoumaz on August 1st, or the famous festival of live music performances, the Verbier Festival, which runs from mid-July to the beginning of August.
