It is no surprise that in La Tzoumaz Chalet Mont Gele is one of our most popular rental chalets. With 4 spacious bedrooms that sleep up to 10 people and an enormous living space on the middle floor that is divided into four separate areas this chalet is ideal for several couples, families or groups of friends.  The living space comprises a huge open kitchen with central island, a windowed dining area that is separated from a comfortable lounge area by a central open fireplace and a second lounge area with TV and games.  Downstairs there is a games room with full-size indoor table tennis table.  Outside there are several terraced areas with dining options allowing you to make the most of the morning, afternoon and evening sunshine.  On the evening terrace you will find a built-in brick barbecue and a privacy screen that serves as a wind break against the “bise”that occasionally blows through the mountains.  There is plenty of easy parking and loads of storage space for skis, boots, mountain bikes and mountaineering equipment.

Bedrooms & Bathrooms

On the upper floor you will find two large double rooms and a large twin room.  One of the doubles has an en-suite bathroom with shower, sink & WC.  There is a large family bathroom with sink, bath and separate shower enclosure, and there is also a separate WC.

On the main living floor there is a guest WC.

On the lower floor you will find a large bunk room with bunks for 4 people and plenty of space for children to play.  The bathroom on this level is fitted with a shower enclosure, sink and WC.

If you wish to travel with children under 2 years old, just let us know and we will provide a cot and a high chair in your chalet.

The kitchen is fully fitted to meet the needs of cooking for large groups, including a fridge/freezer, oven and hob.  There is a dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster and coffee-machine, plus fondue and raclette sets for a traditional Swiss evening in front of the log fire.  A washing machine, dryer, iron and hairdryer are available, and there is a portable barbecue for outdoor use as well as the built-in brick barbecue.  There is an indoor table tennis table (bats and balls loaned on demand) and sufficient boot heaters to keep up to 10 pairs of ski-boots warm and dry.

It’s hard not to relax in this mountain haven, when facing the stunning panoramic views for which the resort of La Tzoumaz is well-known.  On a blue-sky day, the view stretches 20km, from the floor of the Rhone Valley up to the peaks of the Haut de Cry and the Mont Gond, and in the other direction towards the legendary Vallon d’Arby and its un-pisted ski itinerary.  Take a comfortable seat in one of the two lounge areas with a glass of local wine at the end of a hard day on the slopes and soak up the mountain calm.  After dinner, linger a while at the wooden dining table to admire the warm glow of the large open fireplace that provides a dividing feature from the lounge area.  In the evening your privacy is guaranteed as the electric blinds will close on the windows at the touch of a button.  If you are in need of distraction, there are plenty of games to entertain both young and old and the the flat-screen TV/DVD player in the TV room shows a broad range of international channels.  On a fine day, it is easy to lose yourself in the warm sunshine of the garden and various terraces so let your mood guide you on where to place your deckchair.

Chalet Mont Gélé is equipped with free, high-speed WIFI for your own private use.

In summer, the area turns into a hiking and mountain biking paradise, with hundreds of kilometres of marked trails criss-crossing the mountains, awash with alpine flowers and a range of wildlife to spot. The “Bisses” are relatively flat footpaths that follow the water as it trickles around the mountainsides, where for centuries farmers and villagers channelled the streams for their own uses. They have been preserved now and can be an incredible way to spend a day or more on easy hikes with stunning views across the Rhone Valley or over to the Massif des Combins. We’ll provide you with plenty of tourist information including our favourite suggestions for day trips that are easily reachable from La Tzoumaz, from spectacular gorge walks, cheese factories and roman festivals to rainy-day ideas such as underground lake tours. The road that winds up the mountain-top to the panoramic Croix-de-Coeur Cafe-Restaurant opens as soon as the snow melts and from here you can continue the drive (or cycle) all the way down into Verbier.

In the peak summer season from early July to late August, the telecabin link to Verbier operates daily from 08:45 to 12:30 and from 13:30 to 16:45, meaning that you can easily access the famous resort as a pedestrian or accompanied by your bicycle. You can even use a variety of mountain lifts to make your way up to Mont Fort at 3300m for Europe’s highest fondue and incredible mountain panoramas that include Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn. Don’t miss the Swiss National Celebrations in La Tzoumaz on August 1st, or the famous festival of live music performances, the Verbier Festival, which runs from mid-July to the beginning of August.

We felt very comfortable. A very nice and well maintained property. Review Submitted: April 30, 2017 Date of Stay: Apr 2017 Source: Fewo Direct, from HomeAway By: Jan O.

Great chalet, beautifully presented and plenty of space for all. We are had a great stay at Chalet Mont-Gele, we were 6 adults and 4 children and all the bedrooms and bathrooms were spacious and in very good order. The chalet was clean and well equipped. A short walk took us to the free ski bus, which was regular and on time, which meant easy access to the slopes. All in all, I would definitely return to this chalet and recommend it to others. We were also well looked after by 4 Vallees / 4 Saisons. Review Submitted: Feb 21, 2017 Date of Stay: Feb 2017 Source: Owners Direct, from HomeAway By: Clare E.

Despite a lack of snow a successful holiday   Chalet Mont Gele is a beautiful domicile to spend with a larger group cozy and nice holidays in the mountains. We were 2 families with a total of 8 persons. For this group size the chalet is optimal. You can also book it with 10 people, but it is in the dining and living room a little tight. The bus stop for the ski bus is only a 5-minute walk from the chalet. The snow conditions were unfortunately moderate in the first week of January. Those who stayed at home, who did not take the slopes, were able to get away with long walks and relaxing by the fireplace. Comfortable and peaceful! Chalet Mont Gele is a spacious and very well equipped chalet. Spread over 3 floors it is ideal for 2 families. Bedrooms are comfortable with beautiful views of the Swiss mountains. The master bedroom has a en suite and there is also a large bathroom/shower and separate toilet for the other two bedrooms to use. The main floor has a large well stocked kitchen and eating area, a study and lounge. Lounge has large windows which provide a fantasticl view! Downstairs, a utility room with washing machine and drier, a fourth spacious bedroom, garage and foyer. Plenty of space outside for the kids to frolic surrounded by the stunning swiss mountains. We had a fabulous time and particularly enjoyed the peace and quiet! Review Submitted: Sep 14, 2016 Date of Stay: Aug 2016 Source: HomeAway By: Miri G.

La Tzoumaz

La Tzoumaz

The 4-Valleys is one of the largest interconnected ski-areas in Europe, with lifts linking La Tzoumaz to Verbier, Nendaz, Veysonnaz and Thyon.  Altogether there are over 400km of pistes that cater for different levels of skiers.  Beginners can follow long gentle trails (which in Switzerland are marked out in blue instead of green or blue) that wind around the mountainside, never going too steeply.  Intermediates benefit from many long reds pistes, with up to 1,800m of height change between the top and the bottom of the lifts.  For experts, not only are there numerous steep black runs, but also clearly-marked yet un-pisted yellow itinerary routes, where the snow conditions will test your skills to the full.  There is a vast expanse of off-piste skiing where the local guides can show you how to access the freshest powder and the famous routes that include those used during the World Freeride Championships.

We love the fact that we are just next door to Verbier.  We don’t promise to offer you lots of trendy resort bars and restaurants within walking distance of your chalet, but in the daytime our high-speed telecabin links you to the resort of Verbier, its mountain restaurants and its vast skiing network known as the Four Valleys.  We can even arrange for you to spend the night partying in Verbier and shuttle you home when dawn breaks or when you are ready for sleep.  Here’s a glimpse of what is out there:
